Imagine working in a supermarket at night and not feeling safe on your way home. This was the reality for female employees at Zuidplein. In response, Urban Tourism Lab Rotterdam students Mike, Jula, Amber, Elsa, Elodie, Claudia, Theresia, Kimberley and Donate launched the groundbreaking EMPOWHER Path – an initiative aimed at improving safety and empowering women’s power. With the support of Rabobank, which provided 8,000 euros for this project, EMPOWHER Path got the boost to become a reality.<\/p>\n

Why EMPOWHER Path? The project was born out of the real fears and experiences of female supermarket employees. They longed for change and a safer environment.<\/p>\n

What does EMPOWHER Path entail? It combines marketing campaigns with physical interventions, such as creating a playful path, to not only change the environment, but also increase the sense of safety.<\/p>\n

What does this project mean? It’s not just about physical safety; it’s also about restoring trust and strengthening community.<\/p>\n

The question now is: Are you pushing the button? The EMPOWHER Path is more than just an idea; it is a movement that calls for commitment and action.
