Last semester, four students graduated from the Urban Leisure & Tourism Lab Rotterdam. Remco van der Haas, a Tourism Management student, was one of the graduates. In collaboration with both the lab and Stichting De Werkshop, he created a tour of Hart van Zuid for and with asylum seekers with a granted refugee status.

Stichting De Werkshop is located in the same building as the Urban Leisure & Tourism Lab Rotterdam. The Werkshop offers various services focused on reintegration, activation, and talent development. One of the target groups supported by the foundation is asylum seekers, including through the Motor in Beweging program. Together with the participants in this program, Remco developed a walking tour of Hart van Zuid. The tour aims to challenge the candidates who reside in Rotterdam-Zuid to improve their language skills. Participants are encouraged to actively engage and share their own experiences. By conducting the tour in Dutch, both listening and speaking skills are practiced. Eventually, the candidates themselves may even lead the tours during the period when they are being guided towards employment.
